Steel Renewal and Structural Repairs: Precision Repairs to Restore Vessel Integrity
As an experienced marine engineering contractor, Patel Engineering Works (Vizag) specializes in the systematic renewal and structural repair of corroded or damaged ship steelwork—both afloat and in drydock conditions.
We carry out extensive steel renewal for hull plating, internal bulkheads, tank structures, deck houses, and other key load-bearing and watertight components. Our services are tailored to meet the demanding requirements of naval and commercial platforms, where precision, speed, and classification compliance are non-negotiable.
Our steel renewal teams are composed of highly skilled fabricators and ABS/IRS-certified welders, proficient in working under tight schedules, complex geometries, and onboard constraints. All work is performed in strict adherence to approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), with materials sourced as per IACS, Indian Navy, or client-specific standards.
Our stringent QA/QC protocols are overseen by NDT Level II certified inspectors who ensure weld integrity and dimensional conformity at every stage of renewal.
We are experienced in the application of a wide range of advanced welding techniques, including:

We routinely work with a broad mix of marine-grade materials, including IS 2062 for standard steel renewal, AH36 for high-strength applications, and DMR 249A for naval-grade requirements. Our teams are also well-versed in fabricating and repairing structures made from aluminium alloy H8053 H111, commonly used for lightweight naval superstructures.
Whether it’s a scheduled refit or an urgent repair, our steel renewal services are delivered with speed, precision, and a commitment to safety—ensuring vessels return to service stronger and fully compliant with class and defence standards.
Hydraulic Systems, Valves & Cylinders, Piping & Controls: Ensuring Precise Hydraulic Power Transmission and Control
As an experienced marine‑engineering contractor, Patel Engineering Works (Vizag) specializes in the comprehensive overhaul and testing of hydraulic systems on naval and commercial vessels—including steering gear, deck machinery (winches, cranes), bow and stern doors, and even specialized torpedo‑launching mechanisms. Our scope covers high‑pressure hydraulic lines, cylinders, valves, pumps, motors, and control systems—each subjected to pressure testing, full‑system flushing, and leak‑detection protocols to guarantee operational integrity. We also bench‑test pumps and motors post‑overhaul to verify performance before reinstallation.
Our technicians replace flexible hoses and fabricate piping assemblies with classification‑approved fittings, adhering to ISO 28521 cleanliness standards and marine‑grade corrosion requirements. Hydraulic cylinders are either reconditioned—via precision grinding, seal renewal, and hard‑chrome plating—or manufactured new to OEM specifications, restoring dimensional accuracy and extending service life.
Under a rigorous QA/QC regime, we perform hydrostatic tests at 1.5 × design pressure, functional valve calibration, and final system tuning to confirm leak‑free operation and compliance with OEM and class‑society standards.
